Unfortunately I'll have to wait a month to see this one.

Which makes me think that they probably should've had it in October, being a more fitting month overall, or even november since that's when the original IT with Tim Curry came out, but I understand that they likely don't want to contend with the new Blade Runner movie, Thor: Ragnarok or Justice League.

I saw it last night. I won't give any story spoilers but I can say that it's not your typical horror movie. It's a bunch of different genres mixed together

It's weird, thrilling, has some crazy jump scares, but it's not all that scary. It's honestly just a fun ride. It's definitely worth watching

I'd second this, I wouldn't say it was a particularly scary film but I did really enjoy it.
I thought the child actors were brilliant, they nailed it imo.

Just got back from seeing the movie too. As usual, I won't spoil anything but seriously, this was just downright entertainment. I was enjoying every moment of the film. I felt such joy seeing the kids together, who are great actors and like its been said, the actor who played Richie Tozier was amazing. Bill Skarsgård was an amazing and frightful Pennywise. It's hard to say if he's as "memorable" as Tim Curry, but I dare say he did a better performance.

But again, it's hard to be as memorable as Tim Curry.

There was a lot of very good atmosphere along with the jump scares. If you weren't frightened by some of the more direct attempts, you were probably feeling them during the more atmospheric moments. Some of which are just plain chilling. Heck, even if you weren't scared one bit, its hard not to like the characters and the overall struggle they have to go through.

It's a damn good movie. It's not without its flaws but its really hard not to like it.

I still have to see the movie, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I've heard it's not "scary" in the traditional sense, but it's unnerving and intense.

Don't be wrong, there is a lot of traditional scares. Body horror, jump scares and even some of the more goofier scenes. For me, such things are more than enough to scare me. However, as I said, there is a lot of atmospheric moments that are just chilling. If I didn't want to spoil them I'd be talking about them all over here. There are parts that can be very unnerving and unsettling.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Just got back from seeing this. I wouldn't say it was scary at all. Some of the scenes were a tad unnerving, and there was some tense moments, but it didn't really feel like a horror film to me. It was more about the kids and their journey (just in a horror-like setting) and that was an enjoyable experience. I thought they portrayed the camaraderie of a group of friends at that age really well.

Finally watched it, pretty damn good. Of course I do miss Tim Curry as he was more casual and natural, but I buy this new Pennywise, and some of the changes made for the story in order to make it more "cinematic" were cool, plus I like the fact that it's allowed to show a little bit more gore and horror than the miniseries.

Spoilers (duh)

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yeah one thing I heard that I thought was interesting, and I don't think it qualifies as a spoiler really, was the gore.

Namely because some of the kids in it actually get killed? On screen.
Normally when a child dies in something the camera cuts away and it's just sort of implied it happens. Or they just straight up never get killed because children are immortal.

I like the sound of Pennywise from some reviews anyway, like how his eyes are kind of squint and sort of glow a bit. Overall he seems not of this world, fitting obviously.

No idea when I'll get to see this sadly.

Also called it not being all that "scary" :p

The special effects on Pennywise, not necessarily his shapeshifting abilities, were awesome. Just like Curry, Skarsgård steals the show.

Oh and also

I'm curious on how some of the changes in the second part are going to happen.

I'm really not sure what I'm expecting most out of Chapter 02 of the movie.

Other than getting the psychedelic JoJo-esque a*** kicking that's going to occur near the end.
